Weekly Greetings! The last few days of school are here, and we start off the week with another field trip! Monday will be our final spring field trip to Moon Lake with Tim Lorenzinz of the Tetlin Refuge. The students will observe and photograph any wildlife we see there. Tuesday and Wednesday will be regular school days, except the class will pick up trash on Wednesday afternoon around the ball field and fairgrounds. The last day of school on Thursday will begin with an awards assembly at 8:30 am, and then there will be field day activities with a picnic after. Students will be released at 1:00pm for summer vacation. As for last week, it was packed full of special events.  Unfortunately we were so busy enjoying them all, I only took pictures on the Chicken field trip. Here is a short recap of them all. To start with, on Tuesday there was an art display in the upstairs of the Library from the upper grades. We took small groups up during our Handwriting time to admire the creativity

Weekly Greetings! Wow, what a great week we had and less than two left to go! Before our field trip to go swimming, there were a number of special things that the class participated in last week. First on Monday, we were invited to the 1st Grade to watch each student's presentation on an animal they researched. Afterwards, there were some delicious snacks that symbolized each report in some way. Tuesday started with the Student of the Month assembly, and our very own Colten Bitz was honored as the April pick. I am sorry to say that the picture I took is too blurry to add in this posting. Then on Wednesday afternoon, the class watched the first half of the high school play presentation of "The Treasure of Shiver River." In between all the student activities, the Tok ASB and district office was pampering all the staff with daily reminders of appreciation for Teacher Appreciation week. To add to all that, one of the fourth grade students made my day on Wednesday with a sw

Weekly Greetings! Last week was incredible, with some special events that went very well! Before I recap all of that, I want to remind you that we will be traveling to Fort Greely on Thursday.  Make sure your child is on time that day, as we will leave shortly after breakfast. Your child will need a swimsuit and towel, and may bring extra snacks. I will have bottled water, snacks, and a bag lunch for the trip there. After they swim, we will eat pizza before traveling back to Tok. When we leave Delta, I will call all of you with a time that we will be back at the Tok School. Please remember that you will need to meet us there, as we will probably return between 6pm and 7pm. For this trip, I will allow electronic devises but your child must be responsible for it if you choose to send one along. Now. to recap the highlights from last week!  Weekly Greetings, To start with, I want to remind you of a couple of important events this week. The first is the Spring Concert on this Tuesday, May 1. There will be two showings and some students will have certain roles in the afternoon or evening musical. Your child should know what roles they have, and in which time slot. The afternoon concert will be at 2pm and the evening show will start at 6pm. In addition, we will be doing a mock trial of The Three Little Bears verses Gold E. Locks on Thursday at 1pm at the Tok Court House. For both events, the students have been working really hard on their roles. I hope you all can make it to see how well they preform. In between trying to complete some units of studies last week, there was a Chess tournament on Wednesday with two fourth graders in the competition. They were in and out of the classroom as they advanced throughout the day.  On Thursday, we enjoyed viewing the stars in the mobile planetarium and presentation from UAF.

Weekly Greetings! The end of the school year is rapidly drawing to an end! We continue to press on, and will maximize the last few weeks to the fullest! A big event this week will be the UAF Planetarium visit on Thursday. The students will have a presentation during the day, but there will also be a Family Night in the gym from 6 to 8pm. Additionally, I currently have some field trips planned starting next week, so I am just going to send a packet of permission slips out at once to make sure everything is in place well in advance. As for last week, we made some planting pots and later planted seeds to discuss Earth Day. Furthermore, the students did a packet on ways to recycle and reuse containers on Friday.           After using the STEAM room on Thursday to make the plant containers, the students continued to create and explore other resources in the room. As a rock cycle review in Science on Thursday, the students were able to simulate the effects o
