Week 25

Weekly Greetings!

Last week was the last short week we will have until Spring Break, which starts the third week in March. Also there are no early release days this month, so we should be able to get a lot accomplished. As I mentioned last week, the elementary classes will be starting a reading incentive program on Monday. You will be seeing a different reading log come home with your child, and please make sure that you sign for the amount of time your child reads. It will not count if there is not a guardian signature. In addition, I will count the new logs toward my Seasonal Readers party that is held every three months. Our next one will be at the beginning of March to reward the students that have been reading regularly through December, January, and February. Furthermore, to start the week, we will be celebrating 100 days in school, and I should have some fun pictures to share next week.

Since we only had three days of school last week, we finished up the Migratory Bird posters, and literary entries for the 2019 calendar contest. In Social Studies we began an Alaska Studies unit by looking at some basic facts and geography of our state. The students did some Google searches and worked together with maps to find key cities, towns, and villages.

If you are ever in the school building about 8:50am, you should join us for our morning music break. Everyday, a new student takes a turn at picking and leading music before we transition to our reading block. Each student seems to have a favorite song, so they get a chance as leader to choose it and be in front of the class. Here are a couple pictures of students doing the different dance activities.
I hope you have a warm and wonderful week!

Kind Regards,

Julie Brown
